I go back to school on Thursday 8th September, it's shocking just how quickly Summer has gone. Regular readers of my blog will know that i recently wrote about how they've changed the dress code at the Sixth Form i go to from 'smart casual' to 'smart wear' which means SHOPPING. I'm trying really hard to save money at the moment, so i'm trying to create smart outfits for around £50 using a key item.
The trusty black tube skirt. All girls must have one, as they aren't just comfortable, but they can be used for any occassion and are so easy to accessorize. I've created 3 looks below using this tube skirt as the key item. This skirt is £7.99 and from New Look. I haven't put shoes with these outfits because that would increase the price limit to an extent that most people would not feel comfortable on spending for an outfit.
Skirt, £7.99. Ring, £6.50. Blazer, £14.99. Brooch, £3.99. Top, £15.00. Total Price. £48.47.
A very simplistic smart look. I suppose you could say it's your 'typical' smart look as there is a blazer and a smart skirt incorporated into this outfit. The red top would be worn untucked so it drapes over the top of the tube skirt nicely. The 3 piece ring set has 3 rings which are the colours gold, silver and bronze. The rings colour scheme matches that of the owl brooch that would be pinned to the breast of the blazer for all to see.
Skirt, £7.99. Blouse, £30.00. Belt, £9.99. Ring, £3.99 £1.99. Total Price: £49.97
A sophisticated smart look featuring a sheer pussybow blouse from River Island. The blouse would be tucked in nicely to the tube skirt and allowed to ruche a little. The red belt would bring the outfit together, bringing in the waist and also adding some colour to this outfit. The ring is a nice piece of jewellery which doesn't overshadow the outfit and fits well. You can't really go wrong with a blouse and a tube skirt, you will always achieve class, accessories just give the outfit the oomph it needs.
Skirt, £7.99. Ring, £3.99. NailPaint, £2.99. Necklace, £3.99. Jumper, £32.00. Total Price: £50.96
A casual look, but smart none the less. Maybe not suitable for a job interview, but i personally would wear this outfit as a smart look, because it allows you to also be warm due to the jumper as well as looking smart. The jumper would not be tucked into the tube skirt as it would not sit very well. There is gold button detail on one of the shoulders of this jumper and that's why i've made made a gold necklace and ring be key jewellery pieces in this outfit. White nail varnish makes the most casual outfits look elegant, i don't know what it is about white nail varnish, but it just has that effect.
