Gaviscon Review

Wednesday 29 July 2015

(image taken from Google Images)

In this post i'm going to tell you about my experience with Gaviscon. I've used Gaviscon in the past because i suffer from heartburn, which is also known as acid reflux. When my eating disorder was at it's worst and i kept being taken to A&E, something they would always give me, is a shot of this. As you can see on the front of the bottle it says 'original aniseed'. I absolutely despise the flavour of aniseed, which is more or less the taste of liquorice/sambuca. As much as i would not want to take this due to the flavour, i knew i had to as it actually really does work. Once i've taken it, i definitely feel a sort of soothing, and after about half an hour, i think it really makes a difference. Obviously everyone is different, so some it may work a lot quicker for and some it may not work at all. For me though, despite the taste, i feel that it works and lasts for a good few hours. Once i've taken it in the past, i actually won't need it again until i have another flare up.
This medicine can be bought over the counter in pharmacies and is best used after meal and at bedtime. Make sure you speak to your doctor or pharmacist about your current medication before using this product. If you have been taking this medicine longer than 1-2 weeks daily, you may need to consult your doctor as you may have a serious medical problem.

Remember that i am not a doctor, this is just generalised advice that will come with the leaflet when buying this product.

Superdrug Haul

Wednesday 22 July 2015

Over the last 2 weeks i went a bit crazy on the Superdrug website. (as you can tell from these photos) I especially went lipstick crazy, buying in total, 10 lipsticks! I've never really been into beauty, well no where near as much as i am in to fashion, but recently, i just want so many beauty products! I'm happy with the products i've bought and i've already tried some of them. I had 2 deliveries to the house, and then one trip to Superdrug and this is everything i bought in total!

These lipsticks are in an array of colours. Some are more brown nude tones, and others are pink toned. I like having lots of different lipsticks to choose from, and at these lipsticks costing no more than £2.50 each, i'd of been silly not to buy a few. As you can see from the photo, the two MUA lipsticks are more shimmery than the others, whereas the Makeup Revolution lipsticks are quite matte. I think these lipsticks are great colours for the Summer and i look forward to wearing them.

If you haven't realised by now, a lot of these lipsticks are from Makeup Revolution. The lipsticks they do are at absolute BARGAIN prices. Two of these lipsticks are good for a statement look, that is the red and the deep pinky-purple colours. One of these lipsticks is a shimmer while the rest are matte as you can see by the shine on the lipstick from where the light has caught it. The middle lipsticks is from the new Rimmel X Kate Moss Nude Range. They're are some beautiful shades but i liked the shade 42 best as it's peachy toned. I can't actually find this range on the Superdrug website so you may have to pick the new Kate Moss lipsticks up in store or on the Boots website.

I've never really been in to skincare. I've got super soft skin so i've just never thought to look after it properly. Recently though, after watching a lot of YouTube tutorials, i've decided i really need to start looking after my skin. I see bloggers and youtubers talk about toner and cleanser so i thought i should buy some. Both products were inexpensive so i thought i may as well give looking after my skin a go. Now considering i've bought these products, you'd think i'd know what they do, how to use them etc. I haven't any idea. Like, which one do you use first and stuff like that. I think i need to read a few more blog posts and watch a few more youtube videos before i can use this, though i am excited to see if it makes a difference to my skin!

Here are just a few other make-up bits i bought. I bought this concealer from MUA and it works perfectly for me under the eyes. So happy i bought it. I can't find the MUA primer on the website now, so i am unable to link it. I haven't made my mind up on this primer yet, so i'll report back on it at a later date. The blending brush i bought, i'm actually going to use to blend in my concealer, even though it's meant to be used for eye-shadow blending, but i don't care, and if it does the job why should it matter what it's meant to be used for! This gorgeous shimmery eye-shadow palette from Makeup Revolution was only £4 and i'm really happy with it. I've only used a couple of the shades but so far so good.

I haven't really been using any heat protector on my hair for a while, and recently i've felt that it's actually getting quite dry. Just as a precaution i thought i would buy this heat protecting styling spray before using any heat products. I'm yet to try it out, but i'm sure i'll feature it either on my twitter @courtzmelv or here on my blog sharing my feelings on it. I've never been able to curl my hair. The only times i've had it with some proper waves is when one of my friends have done it for me. I really wanted to start being able to do it on my own, and as i just cannot figure out how to do it with a straightener, i decided to buy this curling wand. I haven't tried it yet, but i'm so excited to see if i am able to give my hair some proper waves!

Anyways, i hope you liked this Superdrug haul! Let me know if you want me to do a post on the lipsticks, swatching them etc :) What are you loving from Superdrug at the moment?

OOTD: Bardot Stripes

Monday 20 July 2015

Primark Gem Rings (similar here)

Recently i have been on a major 'lets spend all my money on clothes' binge. I have had so many deliveries coming to my door with either clothes or beauty products. I think i may have a slight problem with spending money.
I made an order on ASOS which cost me about £100, and in that order were the two items i'm wearing in these photos. This gorgeous striped bardot dress is just stunning, i saw it and just had to have it. I'm absolutely loving stripes at the moment, and when i saw that this dress had been reduced to £15, it went straight in my basket. I think this style of dress is really flattering too. I love skater style dresses and mixed with the stripes and bardot neckline it's just my idea of the perfect dress. Now onto my shoes. Aren't they just he most beautiful shoes you've ever seen? They were £28 on ASOS and the moment i saw them they went into my saved items list. I'd go back and look at them constantly, and i finally made the decision to buy them and i'm so glad i did. I'm even thinking of buying another pair for when this pair are a bit ruined. I spent the entire day when they arrived with them on my feet wearing them in, and now they are so comfortable to wear. I love the lace up ballet shoe style and the fact that this pair were at such a reasonable price, it would of been stupid of me not to buy them. I'd recommend these shoes 100% as they are just fabulous!

Nails #1

Thursday 16 July 2015

Firstly, i am aware that these are not the best quality photos. Me and my mum (she took the photos) were really struggling to get the camera to focus on close up shots. The camera i have is really bothering me at the moment, i really want a new one, but for the time being i'm just going to have to make do.

Anyways, i just thought i'd start documenting when i get my nails done. Some of you may like these types of posts, and some of you may hate them, but hey, i can't please everyone. I get my nails done every couple of weeks at a Nail Salon that was recommended to me by a lot of people. I've had my nails done there 4 times now and everytime i've walked out happy! Although when i walked out of the salon when i got these nails done, one of them wasn't dry and got totally scuffed and completely ruined! Luckily about an hour after i left they could fit me in and they managed to correct it which i was very thankful for!

I chose these nails because i'm loving pastels at the moment, especially for Summer. I also really like quirky designs. I, like most people nowadays love to get a different design on the fourth finger nail. I thought it would be good to just change the colour and tip round on the fourth nail and i think it looks quite nice. If you're in the UK you'll have heard of the sweets 'Love Hearts'. Well quite a lot of people have told me that this is what my nails remind them of haha.

Let me know if you'd like to see when i next get my nails done and to keep documenting them :)

Iconemesis Fifi Lappin Bunny Case Review

Tuesday 14 July 2015

I was sent this gorgeous Fifi Lappin Bunny Case to review from Iconemesis! I'll tell you about the  case i chose in a second, but first let me tell you abut Iconemesis.

Iconemesis are a British Brand that focus mostly on phone cases. They collaborate with artists and illustrators who design the most unique phone cases. They started in 2011 and are becoming more and more recognized and they have a wide variety of phone cases for you to choose from.

This is the Fifi Lappin Bunny Case for the iPhone 5/5S with the Cupcake design. I think this is the cutest little design i've ever seen on a phone case! I mean, a cupcake on a bunny.. what's not to love?!?! I love the pale purple background as i think the bunny really stands out, and i also like what looks like raindrops coming down the case as i think it adds a great look. The cupcake looks exactly how you would expect a typical cupcake to look. It's got pink frosting on top with cherries and the bunny is even wearing a cherry as a hat. It's so cute. I'm tempted to get a bunny now just to dress it up like this. (obviously i wouldn't, but just imagine how cuteeeeee that would be!) This was my favourite case out of the Fifi Lappin range and i'm over the moon that i picked this case because i love it and it's now on my phone, and i think it's going to stay there permanently!

I would definitely recommend Iconemesis if you're looking for a phone case and don't want to spend too much. They are reasonably priced and have the loveliest designs. My phone case was  £15 but is currently on sale at £10!

OOTD: Based on So...? Sinful

Sunday 12 July 2015

I was sent this perfume to review from So...? through the Bloggers Love Hub. They've asked me to show you guys an outfit that i think would suit this scent. But before the outfit photos, let me tell you a little bit about it.

I've been using So...? fragrances for many years now, mostly in the form of body sprays. Currently this one has been my favourite and i've actually bought numerous of the body sprays in this scent. The So..? scents are really reasonably priced too, for a body spray in this scent it's 85p at Boots at the moment and for the eau de toilette it's £6.35 for a 30ml bottle like the one i have. If you want to shop at Boots for this scent, click this link.

This is the So...? Sinful smell and it is absolutely divine! The outfit i have created based on this scent is a pussybow blouse with a denim skirt and flats. The reason for this outfit is that i feel like this scent is fun yet sophisticated and i think that's the type of look you get from my outfit. I think pussybow blouses look really smart, but i've dressed it down with a denim skirt to make it a bit more fun. This scent and outfit combined would be the perfect Summer staple, you'd look and smell like you're having a great time. The aroma really draws you in and makes people pay attention to the perfume you're wearing. I would say that this scent is best for people between the ages of 16-30. Obviously you can wear it whatever age you are, that's just my opinion. I think you can smell a bit of vanilla, and maybe jasmine but there is also a sweet hint of scent there which i think could be of a fruit.

Below you will see the outfit that i have created to go with this scent. (it's a bit photo heavy - soz)
I'd definitely go and buy this, because it's an all year round scent, but it shines in the Summer.

Scholl Footcare Products Review

Thursday 9 July 2015

Scholl Shoe Spray For Odour Elimination*
Scholl Instant Recovery Cream For Dry Skin*

I was asked if i would like to review a couple of  foot-care products from Scholl and i thought it would be a great opportunity for me to actually look after my feet a bit better. I was lucky enough to receive two footcare products. One being a Shoe Spray for Odour Elimination and the other being Instant Recovery Cream for Dry Skin, and i think in  this instance it's mostly for cracked heels.

I don't actually suffer from foot odour, but my brother does terribly. I sprayed the Shoe Spray in his shoes evenly and they actually smell a heck of a lot better than i expected them to smell. I'd describe the smell as a bit of an alcoholic smell at first, but once it's settled it smells quite fresh as opposed to the usual sweaty odour we all have to smell when his shoes are about. This product is great if you have sweaty feet and you want your feet to smell a bit fresher this Summer. Once you've used the spray, make sure to wait a couple of minutes so that it can dry before putting your shoes back on. This product really does what it says on the tin.

I am incredibly impressed with the Instant Recovery Cream! This is a great product for cracked heels, just make sure that after you've applied the cream, you don't walk about while it's soaking in. My mum and I both tried the cream on our heels. I found the cream quite greasy, but that could be because i used a little bit too much, but my mum also said it was greasier than she expected, so just make sure you are able to wash your hands after you've applied it. After a few minutes of letting the cream soak into our cracked heels we both had a feel and noticed that our heels were a lot softer and a lot smoother. This is not what i expected from the cream at all and i am pleasantly surprised! I would definitely recommend this to people who were looking for a good product for cracked heels!

OOTD: Pink Summer

Tuesday 7 July 2015

Primark Pink Butterfly Cami (similar here)
H&M Purple Tube Skirt (similar here)
Pandora Pendant Necklace in Silver (similar here)
New Look Aviator Sunglasses (similar here)
New Look Rose Ring (similar here)
Primark Silver Ring (similar here)

To me, this is like the perfect Summer outfit. A loose cami, a tube skirt and some flats, also a blazer for if the weather changes, which it tends to do here in England. This cute pink butterfly cami is gorgeous and it was only £4 in good ole' Primark, so if i was you i'd head down there quick and grab yourself one! I got it in my actual size, and it's loose fitting which is perfect for when it's hot and humid. This tube skirt is a great colour match to the cami, and i think it looks rather nice together. Tube skirt more or less go with everything, they're my saviours all year round. Some black flats and a black blazer for if it gets a bit chilly. The day i shot these photos, it was hot if you were in the sun, but if you were in the shade it was rather cold so a blazers always good, and it also smartens up a casual outfit. Jewellery is kept rather simple with a silver pendant necklace a couple of rings. This is an outfit i shall be wearing a lot in the Summer i think.

What's your go-to Summer outfit?
