Blazer: Primark. Top: Peacocks. Skirt: River Island. Tights: Topshop.

Hello smart and girly outfit. Weird that i'm finding the word girly more appropriate for this outfit then the world feminine, i think it could be something to do with the plait and the cute ruffles on the skirt. Anyways, i bought this skirt off Ebay ages ago for like £1, it's quite short so it has to be worn right on the hips unless your willing to bare all haha! Pretty annoying having to wear it on the hips considering mine are so wide though. I really like the off white/creamy colour of this skirt. It is very childish and girly, something i'd pull out the dress up box when i was younger and pretend to be a princess in haha. I've worn a very basic top which and fitted black blazer to add more of a classy look. Dress down this look by wearing a pair of converse of vans, and dress up this look by wearing a heeled pair of shoes. My choice would be wedges.

The title of this post is from the song on Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway album. This album literally is the reason i survived secondary school, but this song stands out. I know the song 'Because of you' is about love and him leaving her and what not. But if you listen to it and 'read between the lines' you'll know what i'm getting at. 'Because of you i'm ashamed of my life, because it's empty, because of you i am afraid' Those words defined my Secondary school life. This is proper depressing, sorry but i thought i may as well explain the title as it is very meaningful to me.

Shocked!

Tuesday 24 January 2012

missherts

Okay, so i recently decided to send my photos to the Beauty Pageant that is 'Miss Hertfordshire' 2012.. i entered a bit late and didn't really think much of it, but the organiser - Sue, rung me and said it was fine and that she really liked my photos. I've managed to somehow just by sending in two photos of myself, bypass the audition and semi-finals stage and have gone straight to the finals.
I am a finalist for Miss Hertfordshire 2012!
Amazing right!? Something i never though could happen. I don't expect to win it, or even come close, I'm doing it purely for the experience and the fact that it raises money for charity. But how cool right?! I had to send my own photo in for the website as they did the 'finalists' photos at the semi-finals, but I was in total shock after finding out! The winner of Miss Hertfordshire goes straight into the finals for Miss England too. It's just so bizzare that from sending my photos in just for the heck of it, i've been selected out of MANY girls.I need some ideas of ways to raise money for the Miss World charity [you go through to if you win Miss England] Beauty With A Purpose. Any ideas on how i could raise the money!? [the more the better]

This is my photo on the Miss Hertfordshire website.
Not the best photo in the world - but had to take it myself.
[i don't have permission to post others from the girls so won't]

I have to attend The Blakemore Hotel in Hertfordshire on the 18th March for rehearsals, lunch, and dinner, then hair and make-up in time for the show at 8pm in the evening. It's a bummer that I'll be on crutches while I'm wearing a ball gown during the pageant as i have my operation on the 30th January . But yeah.. Though it was something that NEEDED to be blogged about! Like i said - i'm so shocked!

Dress&Cardigan: Charity Shop. Tights: Topshop. Necklace&Belt: New Look.

I bought this dress from one of my local charity shops, I don't own many velvet items, so i was really drawn to this piece when i saw it on the clothes rail. Was £8 well spent! It fits nicely but It's a bit on the short side for my liking though, and poofs out at the waist which irritates me. I've got a small belt on to keep in the 'poofyness', it worked thankfully. This looks kind of dark, yet quite British due to the cricket style cardigan. The nautical and British theme are very intwine this season, so i've incorporated a gold anchor necklace too. This outfit is a little different to something i'd usually wear but i thought it'd be nice to try something new.

I'm going to a club tonight in London called DSTRKT with my friend Chloe. It's a proper classy club and i actually have a dress which i'm looking forward to wearing as it's a bit differnt. Should be good. Free entry and free drinks is always a plus. (Really is about who you know) Means i've only got to pay for my travel, so i've topped up my oyster card with £10, and hopefully that's all i'll have to pay out! Really am going all out before my operation!

Jumper&Skirt&Tights: Topshop. Snood&Socks: Tesco. Wedges: New Look.

A cute and ditsy outfit with a splash of geek chic incorporated into it. Love snuggly jumpers such as this one, really did the trick at keeping me warm, along with the top worn underneath haha! Looks a lot like a grandad jumper actually. Thought that the outfit needed a bit of an uplift, and by adding something as a simple as a little pair of socks really worked and gave a bit of a geeky vibe. I added a white cobweb snood to this to compliment the white socks. The coral floaty skirt makes me feel all innocent, young and girly, yet wearing the wedges makes me feel real lady-like and grown up. Weirdd little contrast there i suppose.

Went to the cinema to see Sherlock Holmes 2 earlier with Sam, was a lot better than i anticipated. I must say as well, Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. looks pretty darn' fineeeeee in it too! Trying to make plans for this weekend too which will commence tomorrow. My last mental weekend where i can actually drink, dress-up and go out. So, i'm thinking London for Thursday and Saturday. Friday and Monday will probably go somewhere local. I can do all my resting when i'm practically bed bound! I'll just stock up on redbull and pro-plus!

Top: Asos. Pashmina: Vintage. Skirt: Ebay.

Hello long new maxi skirt.. i bought three of these beauties for £3.99 each, they're going to be every worn every day once i've had my operation considering jeans/tights/leggings will be a major no-no as it'll hurt too much. And as comfortable as tracksuit bottoms are, i'd still like to be a little fashionable haha! This skirt is actually mustard coloured, not that these photos portray that too well though. So, this pashmina was my nan's, it was at the back of my mums wardrobe, un-opened and i knew she had it for years, so im assuming it's vintage, even if it's not, i couldn't tell you where its from, i just know she purchased it while in the Middle East. I feel proper upperclass in these photos. I'm wearing wedges from New Look but you can't see them in these photos.

Feeling pretty positive at the moment, after therapy i realised so much. My new therapist is amazing, she's really helped me and i weent in feeling so bad and came out feeling real good actually. Going for a soy hazelnut latte afterwards definately enhanced my mood. While waiting for my starbucks i was standing next to Eastender's Max Branning, who looked me up and down and gave me a wink.. lucky me haha.

Dress: H&M. Blazer: Primark. Tights: Topshop.

I was dragged out last minute to the pub yesterday evening, this is what i wore. Literally got ready before you could say 1,2,3! I got dragged out clubbing afterwards so i did infact get changed about 2 hours after these photos, i don't think a long sleeved knitted dress is made for the clubbing world unfortunately. But anyways, the nights which aren't planned usually turn out to be the best as well, and i had a good night. My boyfriend bought a small bottle of Moet Champagne which is my absolute favourite, so i can safely say i was a happy girl!

So, i'm thinking this outfit was probably a little to smart for a casual gathering at the pub, but ohwell. Suppose that's my statement look, i always attempt to look smart. I think it just gives you that something. If i had the option of wearing heels or flats, i'd always wear heels. They add extra sophistication to every outfit in my opinion. This knitted dress was something i bought on a whim, extremely glad that i purchased it now in this weather though - i do not get on with cold weather, who invented weather under 10 degrees! I'm wearing matte black leggings, blazer and wedges. The black leggings and wedges together elongate my legs which is always a plus-side!

Red Peplum Dress

Friday 13 January 2012

miss selfridge red pepulum dress 42.00

I think i want need this dress in my life. This red peplum dress from Miss Selfridge for £42.00. Worth it's price? I don't think so.. a little on the expencive side. Although, this dress is very classy, pencil dresses do have a great tendancy for this. Personally i've always shyed away from pencil dresses, i can't exactly give you a reason as to why, i've just always found them a little daunting. The peplum detail around the waist puts me at ease though. This dress ooze's elegance and would be perfect for a formal event. Wear with a pair of black heels, minimal jewellery and a black pashmina and you have a to-die-for, simple, classy outfit.

Dress & Blazer: Topshop. Leggings: New Look. Boots: Ebay. Necklace: Charity Shop.

Popping out for a few drinks this evening with my boyfriend and a couple close friends, who are also a couple. Sounds proper double-date-like doesn't it haha. But anyways. I hadn't got out of my pjs all day, was so comfy, but ohwell  it'll be nice to go out. Pretty peeved about how these photos have turned out, literally went to take these and  the lightbulb went. I really couldn't be bothered to find another location in my house with good(ish) lighting, considering this was still the best place, i settled for it. So yeah - apologies for rubbish lighting.

I'm wearing a pretty simple outfit this evening, a smart yet casual block black & white. I'm wearing a goldy-yellow tribal-esque necklace to add a bit of colour to the outfit. I needed an outfit that i would be able to wear the black suede boots i got for my birthday from my daddyoh with! Something that i wanted for a long while, yet incorporating them into an outfit was quite daunting when it came to it. So i spent a while trawling through a few websites and flicked through a few magazines trying to get some inspiration. What do you think? I'd love to know your opinions!
