The first time i've ever done anything for Halloween, such as a party! Ofcourse i did the trick or treating with mummy or daddy when i was younger (was always a witch - was obsessed) BUT never a party, which means i never dressed up properly. Even as a kid, for a witch, i would just take a broom, buy a hat to wear and dress in black, always very boring and simple. But when my friend rung me up last night saying 'the chairman of Mayfair Events has said we can go to Amika Nightclub, in Kensington and get in by saying his name at the door on his V.I.P guestlist'. It was an amazing night, the club was decorated AH-MAZINGLY and we didn't have to pay for a single drink all night and spent most of the time in the V.I.P area. Being on his V.I.P table meant free Grey Goose Vodka and Champagne all night. Can't ask for much more than that can ya! Me & Chloe decided we'd be totally unique and D.I.Y our Halloween outfits, as you can tell. Both zombie girls. I'm a zombie school girl, and i think my friend Chloe looks SO much like 'Wedenesday Addams' from the Addams family! It's funny how much you can achieve with everyday stuff. We used genuine makeup as our 'face paint' and the white stuff in our hairs is actually just dry shampoo sprayed close to the hair for a while, then held in place by hairspray. What do you think!?

Not that i care much, if at all for them, but the Made In Chelsea cast were on our V.I.P table. They are incredibly stuck up and after having a couple conversations with a few of them i can safely say i'm glad i've never watched their show! They genuinley think they're better than everyone, quite amusing really, a lot of them were very drunk too, falling all over the place and just being totally embarrassing. We didn't appreciate the constant bitching from them either, oh my, it was ridiculous! Constant staring and the whispers! On the plus side, we were invited to an after party with them, but we opted to not go!

All in all, for my first official Halloween, where i've actually made an effort and tried to enjoy myself i had a blast, it was just what i needed!

Winter is fast approaching, the clocks go back tonight which means it's going to be dark by about 5pm nowadays, crazy! Clocks going back means that Halloween, Fireworks Night, Christmas and New Years are all very close, exciting stuff! Remember my Winter Coats post a few weeks ago? Well, a few days after that i actually bought my winter coat, and totally forgot to show you! So behold, this is my trusty winter coat! It's cute right? A check pom pom duffle coat! To be honest, it's not ideally the coat i wanted, but when i laid eyes on it in the Oxford Street store i knew it had to be mine and i bought it there and then! Perfecto. Hood? Check. Pockets? Check. Warm? Check. Fur? Check. In Budget? Check! AND it had little pom poms which are adorable, make me feel so innocent! This was £80 extremely well spent for the Winter, and I think the coats really smart too, what do you think?

Ive had such a lazy, unproductive, miserable day today. I've done so much thinking, which is never good. All i managed to do was put a negative on absolutely everything and sink in to an even deeper hole of depression. Hmm, i don't really know what to do tbh.

Blouse+Cardigan: Vintage. Shorts: New Look. Tights: Topshop.

Quite a cute casual outfit really, nothing incredible about it, besides the fact that the vintage cardigan i'm wearing was my grandma's. I love wearing some pieces of hers, there so beautiful and it makes me feel close to her because i miss her greatly. This cardigans lovely, i love the pale pink colour and it's unique design all over it. I tucked in the bow of this pussy bow blouse as it didn't really look right with the outfit, made the blouse look very Victorian with it tucked in actually. My little modern twist on this outfit, my good old denim shorts. You definately can't go wrong with a pair of denim shorts, there a must have in every girls wardrobe. It's around time i invested in another pair actually, there getting a bit too big and losing their shape, sigh. Okay, don't like my legs at all in these photos, silly body woes!

It finally hit me last night that i only have 7 more sessions with my therapist until i move onto an adult therapist instead of a child one. It really scared me actually because i've got such a good bond with her and i really trust her, and the whole having to confide in someone else about my problems just doesn't sound appealing, ohwells, all a part of growing up i guess. I've successfully done no school work this halfterm, woops, i'm planning to go out tonight for a few drinks for a friends birthday, hopefully that'll put me in a good mood to do my school work at the weekend, i really need to do it, i'm behind enough as it is and i don't have any extra time to catch up on work within the school week. A blood test, a doctors appointment, 2 hospital appointments, therapy AND a funeral. Yes, it's going to be a busy, not fun, stressful week!

Dipstick

Sorry for being a total rubbish blogger recently, i've just had no motivation whatsoever for anything! Heres a few random photos of me being an absolute dipstick, enjoy haha! It's not as if i've actually been doing anything, regular readers of my blog will know that i spend the majority of the time either at hospital appointments or slumped on the sofa with no energy. Woah behold, that's what i've been doing, although last week i did spend every morning in a nursery doing work experience. I came away with a really good review and they said that on my school days off i'm more than welcome to build my experience hours up by working there as they really like me WOO! It's half term at the moment, and i'm spending it relaxing, recharging my batteries as such considering i have no energy. As i posted the other day it was my Grandma's 1 year anniversary of her death on Saturday and an uncle of mine died a couple of days before, so i think the term 'emotionally drained' is probably what i've been feeling. I'm just hoping things will improve soon :)

Oh yeah, and i definately haven't mentioned it here on my blog but anyone who follows me on twitter will know HOW EXCITED I AM TO BE SPENDING CHRISTMAS IN DUBAI! A tad unfair that you have to be 21 to legally drink in Dubai, and i turn 18on the 18th December and i'm flying on the 21st, but ohwells, i'm majorly excited! So many activites to be done out there! Will post more in detail soon and will resume normal blogging activity soon too! *promise*

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COURTZMELV

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY
COURTZMELV

That's right, it's the 1st birthday of COURTZMELV, can you believe how quickly a year has gone!?

A year ago today, i spent my first night at home after being in hospital for a week after having an operation on my leg, and i woke up to the news that my beautiful grandmother had passed away. The most devestating news i could of ever heard, my grandma was my everything and i miss her like crazy. She inspired me to start writing this blog, it never had any purpose to begin with but then it developed into a fashion and lifestyle blog. Before i suppose i just used it as a place to write about nonsense and if you look at my earlier posts you'll see that. My grandma used to love reading minature stories i'd written, she always told me to follow my dreams, to voice my opinions... and hence 'COURTZMELV' was born. This blog, although a fashion and  lifestyle blog which is really based on my opinions, to me, is in memory of my grandma. She always wanted me to voicie my opinions and she loved english so she'd be happy to know i was chanelling my writing skills into something positive. Rest in peace Grandma, i love you.

I think it's about time i do another giveaway, what do you think? Considering my blog is now officially a year old, i thought it would be nice to celerbrate this with a giveaway. Details will be posted soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

Blazer: Primark. Blouse+Bag: Vintage. Shorts: Miss Selfridge. Tights: Topshop.

So this is what i wore for my little trip into London yesterday, a vintage blouse tucked into a pair of red high waisted shorts and a blazer, if my hair was loose i'm thinking a little black hat would of looked quite nice to accompany this outfit. I felt quite quirky in this outfit too to be honest. This blouse was something i decided i liked and to keep which was originally my Grandma's, just like this bag too. The blouse is a pale yellow/creamy colour with white polka dots all over it, i've left the top button undone due to the fact that i thought it actually looked better undone, showing that i do actually have a neck. The vibrant red shorts add a bit of colour to this outfit, and the mahogany bag compliments this well. I really like this outfit though, i've really been focusing a lot on what i'm wearing and my own personal style recently, it's really helping me to build my self-confidence and focus on a positive.

My actual reason for going into London yesterday was not for anything luxurious, despite the fact, that yes i did go shopping and buy a couple of pretty pieces. I went into London for a hospital appointment to discuss having the metal plate in my leg removed. I thought i'd be pretty "cool" and take a photo outside the hospital  Well that didn't go at all to plan, because seeing the xray which was taken, my consultant discovered that the bone in my leg is infact STILL broken, even though my operation was a year ago. Atleast that explains the pain i guess, but if i'm in to much pain i was given the option of walking with a crutch because i actually still have a partially broken leg. Ridiculous! Grr. On the plus side, while shopping i did pick up a few nice pieces, a pair of black vans with white trim & laces, a pair of black skinny jeans, and a winter coat! All necessity's for this fast approaching Winter!

The Winter Coat

Monday 10 October 2011

Is there such a thing as the perfect Winter Coat/? I find that come this time of year, every year i'm asking myself the exact same question. Personally, i've had the same Winter Coat for like 2 or 3 years now, it's falling to pieces and just looks tacky now, so it's time i spend good money on a new one which will promise to keep me warm. There are so many differet types of coat's around that are in fashion at the moment; faux fur, vibrant colour, collarless, duffle, etc.
Another thing, how much would YOU be willing to spend on a Winter Coat? Bearing in mind it is going meant to keep you warm throughout the Winter i think you'd be silly to buy a cheap coat which isn't going to do what you want. But on a price scale, how much would you be willing to splurge? £25?, £50?, £100? More? Personally, i don't think i would feel comfortable spending more than £70-£80 on a Winter Coat, but that would be the absolute limit, anything cheaper which still does the trick is just a major bonus.

winter coats
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8
1. Topshop washable hooded coat £65.00
2. New Look belted snood coat £44.99
3. Topshop faux fur textured coat £89.00
4. Topshop textured peter pan swing coat £75.00
5.  Miss Selfridge rust collarless frill mac £65.00
6. Topshop textured wool duffle coat £70.00
7. Miss Selfirdge stone trim mac
8. H&M coat £39.99

Personally, for me the coat i'm buying to keep me warm throughout Winter has to have two specific things. A hood and pockets.  Sorry, but on a cold day in the rain, when i've just done my hair all nice, i would rather cover it with a hood instead of letting it get all wet, and if my hands are cold and i don't have gloves i would like to be able to snuggle my hands in the pockets of a coat. Surely a lot of you can relate, right? I'm quite drawn to the first coat. What type of winter coats do you like?

Blazer: Primark. Jumper+Tights: Topshop. Skirt+Top: H&M.

I love this jumper, it's not just warm, it's cute too right? The diamond cut out print is such a nice touch and i think it adds a bit of feminity to it too. The one problem with this jumper is that due to how oversized it is, it could be worn appropriately with a pair of leggings, but unfortunately that's not on the schools 'allowed uniform list'. So instead, i settled for my trusty black tights and a black tube skirt that sits underneath the jumper and covers enough to keep my dignity. I'm wearing a black long sleeved top under the jumper too because one, it shows flesh if i dont, and two it's too cold to not wear it! I decided on a grey blazer as oposed to the safe bet of a black one to add a splash of colour to this outfit. Okay, i know it's still a dull colour, but it's better than constant black. Considering the sleeves of the jumper were quite long that they could still be seen hanging down even when the blazer was on, i thought it would look nice to fold them over the cuffs of the blazer, to make the ends of the jumper, look like the cuffs. A bit of improvisation never hurt anyone! What do you think?
